How many times have you woken up and felt great, only to get to work and feel miserable? There are many people out there just like you who may not really like their jobs.
However, there are some inspiring workplace ideas that can help you feel more motivated at work. It doesn’t matter how good you are at your job, if you don’t feel passionate about it you may not be as productive.
The first thing you have to do to feel more inspired is feel comfortable in your work area. It can be something as little as making sure your chair supports your back; it is the correct height for your desk, or even your posture while you are sitting there. Heck, even by using the keyboard and mouse correctly you can feel more comfortable throughout the day. We all try to do this at home, so it’s important to do it at work as well.
Another way to feel inspired is by getting rid of clutter at your desk or on the computer. Are you the type of person that puts 50 post-it notes around their computer screen? Do you have stacks of papers all around you? If you can get rid of these and be creative about it you can get more things done.
The most important thing to do is look at your workspace objectively. A great question to ask yourself is; “what absolutely needs to be on my desk?” Whatever you don’t need or never use, simply get rid of it. Then of course the stuff you do use we highly recommend filing it away in an organized system.
The point is you just have to keep the things that you need and get rid of the ones that you don’t. This gives you more space, doesn’t make you feel claustrophobic, and allows you to feel motivated to get your job done. Plus, most people won’t tell you but clutter is a great way to reduce stress. Without it you will feel more relaxed and be more focused throughout the day.
If you do have some sort of cubicle or desk, then I imagine a lot of time is spent on the computer. Just having a clutter free desktop can help clear the mind of all those frustrations and distractions at work. Whether it’s around the monitor or on your desktop, just get rid of the unnecessary things. Add in an inspirational wallpaper or screen saver they give you extra motivation. There are tons of them out there and most are free downloads. You might be surprised, but these can make a huge difference in an eight hour workday.
You may not notice it in the beginning, but the first time you come to work and don’t want to be there these will make a difference. You’ll sit down in your chair, drink your coffee or tea, and just as you’re about to say “I don’t want to be here,” you will see an inspirational image or quote that changes your entire thought process. In the end sometimes it just takes a gentle push in the right direction, and with inspirational wallpapers it may be all you need.
Best of all these actually don’t take up any space. This means you won’t have to worry about extra clutter. Again, if wallpaper isn’t your style you may want to go with quotes instead. Actually you’ll probably be able to find an image and quote together. It just goes to show you that your computer can inspire you in several different ways.
Sometimes all it takes is for you to think outside of the box in order to be inspired. We recommend just keeping everything simple, and not allowing the clutter to get you down. Oh, and if you have clutter we recommend getting rid of it!
